NFI’s Shrimp School is a leading industry event. Now on its third session, Shrimp School, MC’d by the dynamic Dr. Steve Otwell (Emeritus Professor, University of Florida), has established itself as an unmatched environment for classroom instruction, hands-on learning and business networking.
In 2020, Shrimp School returns May 5-May 7 taking place on East Carolina Outer Banks campus at the Coastal Studies Institute, Roanoke Island , NC. An educational forum, Shrimp School convenes business, academia and regulators for teaching and training on topical issues within the shrimp industry. Space is limited.
The agenda will feature the shrimp community’s foremost thought-leaders addressing recent and pressing developments within their fields. As a lecture series and hands-on sensory course, NFI’s Shrimp School will equip seafood professionals with the background and skills needed to make informed decisions on a diverse range of shrimp product issues. Sensory Workshop Add-on (Multiple Species-NEW!): In addition to the basic sensory training offered during the regular program, FDA will be conducting an intensive course following the completion of Shrimp School during the afternoon of May 7th and May 8th. The extra one-day workshop will feature shrimp and other species (Species menu coming soon) and is ideal for those wanting to hone their sensory skill set with more targeted instruction. In addition, the added instruction and assessment is necessary for private lab personnel seeking to obtain FDA certification. Space is limited to 21 participants on a first registration basis.
Location: NFI’s Shrimp School will take place at the UNC Coastal Studies Institute. Located in North Carolina’s scenic Outer Banks region, UNC Coastal Studies Institute is a LEED certified building featuring a state-of-the-art campus with lab and classroom settings. The campus spans 213 acres of marshes, scrub wetlands, forested wetlands and sound ecosystems. The physical address is 850 NC 345, Wanchese, NC 27981. The closest airport to the facility is Norfolk International Airport. Car rental is suggested.
Hotel: NFI has reserved a rooming block at the Holiday Inn Express Nags Head Oceanfront (4701 S Virginia Dare Trail, Nags Head, NC 27959). For reservations call 252-441-0454 and mention NFI Shrimp School to receive the special room rate of $180 (oceanfront)/$152 (non-oceanfront) plus tax. This rate will be available until the conference room block is filled or April 13, 2020, whichever comes first.
Payment: A 5% credit card fee has been added. If you are sending a check please submit it for appropriate amount (see rates above) and made out to National Fisheries Institute.
Cancellation/Substitution Policy: All requests for cancellations must be submitted in writing to email@example.com by Friday, April 3, 2020. Cancellation requests that are received by April 3 will be processed less a $150 administrative fee. Refunds will be processed within 30 days after the event. No refunds for credit card fees. No verbal cancellations will be accepted. There will be no refunds after April 3 and NO REFUNDS for no-shows. Funds cannot be carried over to future conference/workshops. Substitutions are welcome at anytime without penalty. By submitting the registration form, you are agreeing to this cancellation/substitution policy.
